In this session take a deep dive in how the Essential Graphics Panel work in Premiere Pro with Adobe Cerified instructor Nick Harauz. Users will go through hands on exercises demonstrating how the Essential graphics panel works and making the most of it. In this session, users will start by becoming familiar with the graphics workspace and the options available in the Program Monitor under the View Menu for working with text. We’ll create a Main title credit, Lower third and call out graphic for a brand. Users will learn how to save graphic styles, make graphical and animation changes simply by pinning and change large amounts of text quickly. Finally users will save their graphic template to share with a colleague for use in Premiere Rush.
The panel will be focused on how to make sure your gear and storage is optimized around everything you are trying to create as we adapt to the new normal. Whether it’s Direct attached, Cloud, shared, LTO, media asset management strategies, or how Thunderbolt 4 and the new Apple Macs are going to play together, we’re excited to talk to you about it. We have some of the world’s leading experts in video storage on the panel, so bring your questions, and lets get you in a position to succeed for your next project, no matter what it is you’re trying to create. On the panel will be Larry O’Connor (CEO of OWC), Sam Mestman from We Make Movies, master trainer Jeff Greenberg, and Raibar Chener from Lumaforge. This panel will be free and open to anyone whether they are registered for AVW or not. It will also be made available to all after the event, if you can’t make it live.

Cinema 4D is the Academy Award winning 3D software, that's widely used in the Motion graphics industry. Many things you see in Theatres and on your TV have been made using it.
In this "Hands on" session, you are going to get an introduction to Cinema 4D and learn how to make 3D stuff. We live in a 3D world after all.

You want to work more efficiently with After Effects and automate tedious, repeating tasks? This session gets you started with After Effects scripting - even if you haven't done any programming before.
Scripting allows you to automate almost everything in After Effects - from importing footage, over manipulating comps and layers to rendering. As an example, we use a sports template, which shows some player stats and images. We write a script that customizes and renders the template once for each player, based on data in an external file.

In this session, join veteran instructor Nick Harauz as attendees will learn how to build a simple and more complex Mogrt in After Effects. We’ll start by downloading a MOGRT from Adobe Stock, opening it in Premiere and then seeing how it was constructed in After Effects. We’ll then start from scratch by building our own MOGRT that will allow the end user to choose between various picture and text intro styles. Lastly, we’ll see how we can use spreadsheet data in a Mogrt to populate various graphic tasks and save time in post.
In this session, users will learn how to create popular stylistic transitions in Premiere Pro. Attendees will study several real world transition use cases and what makes them effective. We’ll explore the two main types of transition categories available in Premiere, how to use them and keyframe multiple effects to add to the design. You know what's worse than building lower thirds? Building 500 lower thirds, each with eeny meeny custom variations that leave you with a million versions of your comps, aeps, and a big pile of confusion over just which project really was the main copy.
This session is a simple introduction into rigging up your existing designs for templating or toolkitting use, leveraging the Master Properties system (and just a dash of expressions to help things along).

Rotoscoping - the art of keyframing masks to isolate parts of your video - is one of the most fundamental compositing techniques for visual effects. Furthermore, it is very boring and tedious. Therefore, in this session you learn various workflows that make rotoscoping work not just more accurate but also a lot faster.
With the brand new Roto Brush 2 and tracker assisted rotoscoping using mocha or the mask tracker, After Effects offers a bunch of different tools for rotoscoping. You will learn how to work with all of them and in particular which workflow is the best choice in what situation. You will also learn how to improve your rotoscoping using the Refine Softmatte Effect and the free script KeyTweak.
After Effects shape layers are powerful, but can also be dense and unintuitive at times. This session will de-mystify some of the more advanced/lesser-known features of shape layers, showcasing ways to leverage their power in your everyday work.
When hopping into After Effects the first time it may appear daunting trying to animate text the way you want. In this session, AE Instructor Nick Harauz will show you the ropes for animating your text in After Effects. We’ll start by exploring useful presets in After Effects to add and manipulate. We’ll then create our own text animation from scratch by adding multiple animators and saving them as a preset to share with colleagues. Finally we’ll explore other animation techniques using cameras and masks to help reveal our text in style.

Modern technology enables us to handle high-end post-production and motion design work from almost anywhere, and recent events obviously have a lot of people newly working from home out of necessity. Kyle Hamrick and Jessica Thomas provide tips from their years working from home (with families!), aiming to alleviate and talk through some of the stresses of this new remote reality so many have suddenly found themselves in.

In this session viewers will learn some tips and tricks that will allow you to achieve amazing animations super fast utilizing the real world physics engine in Cinema 4D, called Dynamics, that normally would take a very long time or impossible to do in After Effects alone. This sessions will feature a variety of quick and easy production ready tricks using the powerful Cinema 4D Dynamics Module to apply real world physics to your animations that you can implement in your 2D or 3D workflow right away!.
Expressions can be a big scary thing in motion design. Surely you've seen that one spreadsheet of baffling and confusing code snippets everyone loves to copy and paste, without really understanding what's going on in them.
If you'd like to dip your toes into expressing yourself without frustration, this session will take an absolute beginner into this wonderful world. We'll cover what expressions are, how they're used, the foundations of Javascript, and how to decide when to pop open the code editor vs just animating the good ol' fashioned way.
More than just learning what codey bits to write, we'll set up a really simple project rig to drive a number of similar elements all at once, and showcase some native AE features that really help the process.
When we are hired to communicate a message using visuals we often have limitations to work with like budget and timeframe. I'm going to show you a range of transitions you can use between scenes that can save you time and budget but still get the message across and look visually interesting.
Instead of starting at the computer for your process I will be showing how to make amazing looks through real world techniques, brought into AE. I will show some workshop techniques and hopefully inspire more hands on options in creating motion graphics. If you have seen this talk before, you will still be entertained since I have been adding more techniques to get those creative juices flowing.

Life is too short to do the EXACT SAME THING a million times in a row. Especially in After Effects. Luckily, we can solve all our problems with... scripting! After Effects scripting gives you the power to automate nearly all of the repetitive tasks you're spending time doing by hand.
In this session, we're going to take our first steps into the world of script development by building a tool to scan your project for bits of text and replacing certain parts of it. Stuck in versioning purgatory? No more!
We'll cover the fundamentals of Javascript (the language Adobe scripting is based on), the new script debugging system, and how to build code that is understandable, reusable, and modular. With just a few tweaks you can take what we build and have it search text layers, or comp names instead. Easy peasy!
