Multicamera Editing and Beyond

Multi-camera production is becoming increasingly more common with low cost production cameras as well as everyone having a camera in their pocket. There are a number of things that can be done in pre-production, on the shoot as well as in post-production to make editorial much faster and easier. Adobe Premiere Pro’s multi camera editing tools are second to none when it comes to creative editorial, both from a technical standpoint as well as creatively.

This session will dive into how to use the multicam tools on productions ranging from one camera with secondary sound up to using multicam editing for a music video where you might have 30 + “angles” to edit with. We will also look at a number of tips for more successful multi-camera production which makes life a lot easier in post.

A Stitch in Time: Best Practices for Stitching VR Footage

Before you start to edit 360 footage inside of Adobe Premiere, it needs to be stitched / assembled somehow. This process can be very time consuming and cause quite a bit of aggravation if you’re not prepared.

In this session, we’ll explore preparation techniques on set to minimize the time spent stitching. We’ll look at software currently being used to deal with stitching including After Effects for 2 dome camera setups. We’ll also explore some real world complicated stitch problems and how the stitch was dealt with using a variety of software apps. We are living in a world of ever increasing amounts of footage that come into the edit suite. We are also living in a world of shorter windows in which to deliver a cut as well as shrinking budgets for the editor. How do you make sense out of all that footage in order to even begin the edit?

This session will look at different ways to organize, tag and log footage in order to speed along editorial and get the cut out the door. We will take a deep dive into many of Adobe Premiere Pro’s logging and organizational features and how to use them sort footage. Productions covered will range from the single camera corporate shoot to multi camera “spray and pray” reality-style shoots. Complex Particle Systems in After Effects

Moving an Edit from Offline to Online

While many editors these days never leave the system they are working on there are times when an editor has to send a project to online, graphics, color correction and audio mixing. This could be a conform to a more powerful system for working with 4K media or color correction at a dedicated color grading suite.

This session will look at how to take a finished offline edit and move it from the creative stage of editorial into the finishing stages of audio mixing, color grading and online. We’ll look at sequence preparation, list generation, supporting files and communication with the online artists. This topic is becoming increasingly important as we move more and more into beyond HD finishing.

Dynamic Effects (without Tons of Precomps)

You’ve just create this most amazing motion graphic, but now the client needs a word change, or a font change, or a different picture, now its time to redo all of that work.
